About

Smiling man in glasses, outdoors

I am an independent Dutch photographer, and my work has been featured at international festivals such as Rencontres d'Arles (FR), Photoville New York (USA), and Naarden (NL). After studying Law at Radboud University Nijmegen, I spent years working in corporate office environments—a world that felt increasingly distant from who I am. The routine and structure left me unfulfilled, even pushing me toward a kind of depression. Seeking something more essential, I turned to photography and studied at the Fotoacademie in Amsterdam. My graduation project was showcased at festivals and in magazines like the British Journal of Photography. My work has been exhibited at Museum Het Valkhof (NL) and other institutions. Several of my photobooks explore resilience against a backdrop of decay, including my latest on South London’s high-crime neighborhoods. My photography has appeared in NRC, Volkskrant, and various photography magazines. In 2021, my book Rijnwijk was added to Martin Parr’s collection at Tate Gallery, London. I have received recognition through awards and nominations.

Recently I was selected by the Dutch professional photographers' association DuPho as one of ten leading Dutch photographers in their Award Selection of '25

ARTIST STATEMENT

I love form; I am fascinated by it, and I believe it holds a significance far beyond mere content. My photography is dedicated to capturing pure patterns and structures that allow the universe to speak freely—unburdened by fleeting narratives or the calculated persuasion of (AI-driven) marketing. In a world where content is often transient or designed to sell and manipulate, forms reveal a quiet, enduring truth that transcends time and context. I seek the poetry inherent in form itself, not in the narrative or superficial content.

By photographing the world as it is, I uncover the silent dialogue between nature design and human design. Through precise framing, I emphasize how natural forms—universal in their language—both mirror and challenge our carefully constructed, human-made structures. In industrial zones, vacant parking lots, and abandoned urban landscapes, nature’s spontaneous elegance reclaims its space, inviting us to rediscover the raw beauty of the world as it is.
