My photo series documents the demolition of the Rijnwijk neighborhood in Arnhem (NL) and the forced displacement of its residents. Over a year, I spent time walking the streets, speaking with locals, and photographing their farewells. To connect more deeply, I occasionally stayed in a small tent in the area. As the project evolved, I identified with the residents’ stories and resilience. Many of them remain in touch with me today. The series captures a range of emotions and personal histories.
The work was presented in the British Journal of Photography and earned several awards, including Emerging European Talent at the Arles Photo Festival. Photographer Martin Parr added it to the Tate Library Collection, and it was exhibited internationally at Photoville New York. (Order book, click on link).
